Boston firefighters battle 9-alarm blaze on Beacon Street; 5 hurt

More than 150 firefighters responded to a nine-alarm blaze on Boston’s Beacon Street that left at least five firefighters hurt, officials said at a televised news conference Wednesday.
In a briefing for reporters at the scene, Boston fire officials said the blaze broke out in the basement of a four-story brownstone and engulfed the entire structure. The fire went to nine alarms, the city’s highest designation.
No residents have been injured, fire officials said.
Three firefighters have been hospitalized, one in serious condition. Two others have minor injuries, officials said.
The cause of the blaze will be investigated.
