Notable deaths of 2014: ‘Gilmore Girls’ star Edward Herrmann dies at 71

Edward Herrman -- best known as Richard Gilmore on "Gilmore Girls" -- dies Wednesday, Dec. 31, TMZ reports. He had been battling brain cancer and was taken off his respirator when chemotherapy did not improve his condition. He was 71.
