SAN DIEGO -- A 19-year-old man suspected of robbing a La Jolla pharmacy at gunpoint was found dead hours later after apparently committing suicide by ingesting the stolen drugs, police said Saturday.
The CVS Pharmacy was robbed late Friday morning by a gunman wearing a white mask with a thin mustache, akin to the Guy Fawkes masks worn by protesters in the Occupy movement.
Later Friday, the man’s family became concerned after not hearing from him. A neighbor found him unconscious and notified police.
Police responded and found him that he had committed “suicide with assistance of earlier stolen items.” Other items from the robbery were found in his home, and the car outside matched the description of the gunman’s car, police said.
His name was not released.
