Corvette driver dies in street race with Mercedes in San Diego

Reporting from San Diego — An illegal street race near SeaWorld in San Diego resulted in the death of one of the drivers after he lost control of his Corvette, police said.
The 27-year-old man lost control of his sports car Sunday night as it approached 100 mph and struck a palm tree in the center divider, police said.
The black Mercedes-Benz he was racing fled the scene and its driver is being sought by police.
A 28-year-old woman who was also in the silver Corvette was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.
