A 39-year-old woman who allegedly kidnapped her three children remained at large Thursday, a day after the siblings were found safe.
Nisshawn Murphy was being sought after she failed to heed a judge’s order to relinquish custody of her children due to several criminal convictions. She allegedly kidnapped her 10-year-old son outside his Palmdale foster home and left with his two younger siblings.
The 10-year-old was reported missing about 8:50 a.m. Monday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
On Wednesday, a friend of Murphy’s who was apparently unaware that the children had been deemed missing turned them over to authorities at the southeast division of the Los Angeles Police Department after seeing the abduction alert.
Authorities said Murphy has brown eyes and black hair, is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. No description of her clothing was available.
She is believed to be driving a white four-door Ford Explorer with side steps and California license plate number 6VZX199, according to authorities.
Anyone with information on Murphy’s whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s station in Palmdale at (661) 272-2500, or sheriff’s Det. Dang at (661) 272-2477.
