Gov. Jerry Brown names two to state community college board

Gov. Jerry Brown has named one new member to the governing board of the state’s community college system while also reappointing another to an additional term, officials announced Monday.
Cecilia Estolano is an attorney who was also the chief executive at the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency. If confirmed by state legislators, she will serve her first term on the state board.
Geoffrey L. Baum is the director of communications and public affairs at the Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands and was the president of the Pasadena Area Community College District Governing Board. He has served on state board since 2008 and must also be confirmed by lawmakers.
The 17-member board of governors sets policy for the nation’s largest community college system. Six seats on the board are apparently still empty.
[Updated, 12:55 p.m. PST March 4: California Community Colleges officials said Tuesday that it is Brown’s job to nominate candidates to fill the six empty board seats.]
