Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near Rio Dell

A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Friday morning 15 miles from Rio Dell, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 1:03 a.m. PST at a depth of 17.4 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 19 miles from Fortuna, 32 miles from Eureka and 36 miles from Bayside.
In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
