Earthquake: 2.8 quake strikes near Marina del Rey

A shallow magnitude 2.8 earthquake was reported Thursday morning near Marina del Rey, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:53 a.m. PST at a depth of 5.6 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was two miles from Santa Monica and four miles from Culver City and El Segundo.
In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
