L.A. SantaCon 2009 participants pack into a Metro train on the way to East L.A. Participants rallied at the Metro Mariachi Plaza Station in East L.A. before heading off for more revelry at Restaurant El Tarasco. Hundreds took part in L.A. as part of an international event that began in San Francisco in 1994 and is intended to spread cheer and goodwill. The Santas assembled at the Empress Pavilion in Chinatown before heading out to various Metro stops.
