2014 Sochi Olympics experiencing construction crunch

SOCHI, Russia — With construction still underway at numerous hotels in the area, Olympic officials are insisting that everyone who booked a room for the 2014 Sochi Games will have a place to stay.
Some hotels near the mountain venues were not able to accept guests while others — including some in the city — lacked basic amenities such as telephones, televisions and even toilet paper.
“Every Games has some last-minute issues,” International Olympic Committee spokesman Mark Adams said. “These ones are being handled.”
Athletes, officials and journalists have been arriving in increasing numbers over the last few days. A much greater influx is expected to begin Monday.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, with some competitions beginning Thursday.
A significant number of people have been given temporary rooms until their hotels are ready to open.
