Dead whale washes ashore Ventura County beach

VENTURA, Calif. — Officials say a whale has been found dead on a Ventura County beach.
Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History spokeswoman Easter Moorman tells the Ventura County Star the whale washed ashore earlier Monday north of Hobson Park. The type of whale has not yet been determined.
Gray whales annually migrate through the Santa Barbara Channel on their voyage from Mexico to Alaska.
Last year, two blue whales washed ashore in Ventura County. Officials believed those whales had been struck by ships.
