Nestled in the Angeles National Forest, the San Gabriel River has attracted gold prospectors for decades. Using pans, dredges and sluice boxes, the regulars work painstaking hours to find tiny glittering gold flakes. It’s lots of effort and big dreams, yet relatively little gold.
