Michael Voltaggio designed shoes, and they’re kind of ugly
- Share via
Micheal Voltaggio, chef at Ink and Ink.sack, is trying his hand at shoe design. The “Top Chef” alum has teamed up with Malibu-based shoe company OTZ for a collaboration they’re calling Culinary Brigade.
Voltaggio designed two pairs of shoes for the company, a lace-up design ($165) and a slip-on ($175). Both look like an ugly hybrid of Toms and the serrated bottoms of a pair of Uggs.
The shoes, which are currently available on Zappos.com are meant for use in the kitchen and hospitality environments, according to the product description. There’s a durable anti-microbial cork bottom and anti-slip rubber soles.
But then the description says the shoes “can also be worn after work.” We’d have to disagree with you there.
The shoes may not exactly be a fashion statement, but they’re definitely a step up from Mario Batali’s favorite orange Crocs.
