The singer -- whom we all know for his modesty, after all -- finally signed up for the social media platform in July and was so surprised and heartwarmed by how many fans were so eager to follow his rapid-fire 140-character thoughts on everything from the “Social Network” movie trailer to his latest purchases and his hatred for stickers on laptops and half-empty water bottles. And even now, after months of experience, it seems the one thing Kanye hasn’t learned on Twitter is how to follow other people. (Matt Sayles / Associated Press)
From “American Idol” to Amanda Bynes, it’s been on whirlwind week.
“Project Runway’s” budding designers would be lost without mentor Tim Gunn, especially this season, when the show is looking to shake things up. Not only are there 17 designers (up from 16), but the would-be contestants are told they still have to complete the audition process by completing a look using a garment out of a fellow designer’s suitcase. The newbies struggle (one outfit is declared fit for a “pole dancer from Dubai” by Michael Kors) and the judges threaten to boot several from the bottom six. One place the Obamas are reportedly not going to be this weekend is Rhinebeck, N.Y. But plenty of other Democrats will be. Is there something in the water at Mr. Chow? After the recent wedding of Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom (pictured), she’s telling friends she’s pregnant. Also, Diablo Cody and husband Dan Maurio’s just-born son came hipster-ready and is “lightly mustachioed,” while scorned “Bachelor” contestant/”Dancing with the Stars” cast member Melissa Rycroft is expecting, and Christina Applegate showed off her baby bump this week. Provocative filmmaker Oliver Stone whipped up a mild controversy in July when he claimed that Hitler did more damage to Russians than to Jews during World War II and that the American focus on the Holocaust was the result of “Jewish domination of the media.” Stone immediately issued a clarification, but several Jewish groups condemned his remarks. After much speculation, Daniel Craig officially confirmed that he is taking one of the lead roles in director David Fincher’s American remake of the hit Swedish thriller “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” Considering Craig’s inarguable “rightness” for the role and his physical similarity to the Swedish actor who portrayed him makes one wonder if Craig ever really had much of a choice. It seems like just yesterday that Amanda Bynes was Tweeting about going into retirement. In reality, it was more like a month ago (June 19), but it turns out she’s had a change of heart. The “She’s the Man” star announced, “I’ve unretired,” via Twitter. She quickly followed up with a link to the trailer for her new fall movie “Easy A.” (Chris Pizzello / Associated Press)
