“60 Minutes” essayist Andy Rooney is signing off for good from his regular segment this Sunday. At 92, he’s stepping down after 33 years on the legendary show with one final weekly piece and a career retrospective. The irascible commentator is one of the last links to the glory days of CBS News and exec Jeff Farger says they are glad to welcome him back any time the “urge hits him.” (Rene Perez / Associated Press)
Music legend Sly Stone is back in the spotlight again, but for all the wrong reasons. The former multi-millionaire is apparently homeless and living in a van in Los Angeles after falling on hard times. The focus of a recent New York Post feature and an upcoming documentary, it would seem that he’s content, but broke (if the unpredictable Stone is to be believed). He reportedly turned down the chance to move into a rental house. But he does have a pending $50-million lawsuit against his former manager. (Mel Melcon / Los Angeles Times)
Kat Von D and Jesse James are dunzo. The former “L.A. Ink” star announced the breakup news on Facebook, telling fans, “I am not in a relationship” and apologized for any “confusion.” The couple recently called off their engagement, then reunited in August, but it looks as if this time the tattoo artist and her motorcycle beau are calling it quits for good. Charlie Sheen is $25 million richer thanks to a hefty payout from Warner Bros. However, the “Two and a Half Men” settlement falls way short of his original $100-million lawsuit against his former employers, who fired him back in March. Apparently an apology tour can only go so far. (Christopher Polk / Getty Images)

Justin Bieber sent Lil’ Wayne a birthday surprise this week -- a cover of his hit song “How to Love.” Biebs tweeted Weezy a link to the acoustic recording in the wee hours of the night after hinting at insomnia. Maybe Justin should stay up late more often. (Aaron Favila / Associated Press)
