It’s official, Hollywood will be rolling out the red carpet for the duke and duchess of Cambridge. The visit marks Kate’s first trip to the States. Is the princess more of a theme park girl or a beach bum? It’s too soon to tell, but hopefully British transplants David and Victoria Beckham can help her and the future king get acquainted with all that sunny SoCal has to offer. Rumor has it that the royal couple has already penciled in some time with Posh and Becks. (John Stillwell / AFP / Getty Images)
Is Saoirse Ronan the next Bella Swan? Sorta, but not really. The “Hanna” star just landed the role of Melanie in “The Host,” based on Stephenie Meyer’s 2008 sci-fi novel. She’ll play a Bella-type 20-year-old whose mind is slowly being taken over by an alien named Wanderer. The twist is that Melanie is fighting off the invasion with thoughts of her crush, Jared, but Wanderer starts to fall for him too. Leave it to Meyer to include a juicy love triangle. Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Cannon welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe -- previously known as #dembabies -- last Saturday. Son Moroccan is named after the top tier of her New York City apartment, called the Moroccan Room, while her daughter is named after Marilyn Monroe. Morrocan has Nick’s middle name, Scott, while Monroe will go without since her mama doesn’t have a middle name. But you can just call them “Roc and Roe.” (Matt Sayles / Associated Press)
Mel Gibson’s ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva dropped her domestic violence claim against the actor on Wednesday. The surprise move lifted the protective order from the former couple’s paternity case and allows them meet and talk face-to-face without a third party present. The paternity case stemmed from a January 2010 altercation in which Grigorieva claimed Gibson punched her in the face and verbally abused her. Criminal charges still remain, but Gibson’s attorneys are attempting to get the criminal case expunged from his record after his no-contest plea last month. He’s also got those glowing reviews of his sobering performance in “The Beaver” to fall back on. (Jacques Brinon / Associated Press)

Lindsay Lohan’s case has taken a new direction since the court reduced her charge from a felony to a misdemeanor in the alleged theft of a $2,500 necklace from a Venice boutique. She still has 120 days of jail time and 480 hours of community service to complete for violating her probation, but she may be able to end the ordeal by pleading no-contest to the actual charges. And if she’s really lucky, she won’t have to do any extra jail time. (Charles Sykes / AP)
