People magazine has confirmed our suspicions -- Jennifer Lopez is in fact better-looking than the rest of us. The glossy awarded her top honors on its most beautiful people list, giving the mother of two bragging rights over competitors like Reese Witherspoon and Halle Berry. But don’t assume it’s just genetics. The “American Idol” judge says, “I don’t want anybody thinking it’s easy. It does take time and it’s hard work. HDTV wide-screen is nobody’s friend!” (Chris Pizzello / Associated Press)
Catherine Zeta-Jones checked herself into a mental health facility recently, seeking treatment for Bipolar II Disorder. The Oscar winner has been under immense stress as her husband Michael Douglas underwent treatment for throat cancer. “She went in for a few days because she’s about to start working, and wanted to make sure she’s in top form, which she is,” a friend told People.
Bipolar II is characterized by severe swings from depression to a milder and briefer manic state called hypomania.
Scarlett Johansson and Sean Pennhave moved in together in Malibu -- kind of a serious step for two recent divorcees. In any event, Penn’s pad should provide cozier accommodations than the West Hollywood hotel where ScarJo’s been staying since her split from Ryan Reynolds. It turns out Britney Spears is really into “S&M.” Who knew?
The pop princess paired up with Rihanna this week for a remix of RiRi’s mega-hit and even got her own verse in the song. Rihanna told the Z-100 radio station in New York she was looking to do something “major” with the mix and her fans wanted Britney. But that’s not all that’s going right in Brit’s life: She also found a replacement act (remember when Enrique Iglesias dropped out a few weeks ago?) for her upcoming “Femme Fatale” tour -- Nicki Minaj. Demi Lovato landed in rehab last year, but details were murky about her “dark period.” Now, she’s opening up to Seventeen magazine about her depression, cutting and eating disorder and the intervention that led her to an Illinois treatment center. The Disney star told the magazine, “I basically had a nervous breakdown. I was really bad off. My parents and manager pulled me aside and said, ‘You need to get some help.’ It was an intervention. I wanted freedom from the inner demons. I wanted to start my life over.” (Kevin Winter / Getty Images)
Lady Gaga took a tumble onstage Sunday night, but slipping off a piano and nearly banging her head wasn’t enough to cancel the Houston show. Despite the slip, while wearing only a bra, panties and stiletto boots, Mother Monster kept right on singing “You and I.”
Aside from her tour, Gaga’s also been busy releasing new versions of her hit song “Born This Way,” prompting Dolly Parton to call for a country collaboration. “You know those GooGoo candy bars in Nashville? I could be Lady GooGoo,” she told E! News. GooGoo and Gaga? Sounds fabulous. (Gene Sweeney Jr. / Baltimore Sun)
It appears that Ron and Hermione weren’t the only ones getting lovey-dovey on the set of “Harry Potter.” A real-life romance was brewing behind the scenes between Bonnie Wright (a.k.a. Ginny Weasley) and Jamie Campbell Bower (a.k.a. Gellert Grindelwald, and who also stars in “Twilight” and “Camelot”). Best wishes to the happy couple, who just announced their engagement.
