Actor Charlie Sheen has had some major roles throughout his career. He’s also courted major controversy.
Sheen’s short-lived second marriage to “Bond” girl Denise Richards was a rocky one. (Previously, he was married to model Donna Peele from 1995-1996.) The two actors, who wed in 2002, met on the set of “Good Advice” and went on to costar again in the 2003 spoof comedy “Scary Movie 3.” Despite their growing family -- a daughter Sam and another baby, Lola, on the way -- Richards filed for divorce in March 2005. Later they tried to reconcile, but eventually the marriage unraveled with Richards filing a restraining order against Sheen, claiming abuse, death threats and more erratic behavior. Sheen denied the allegations and the couple officially divorced later that year. The actress eventually obtained full legal custody of their two girls. (Paul Skipper / Associated Press)
Sheen married Brooke Mueller in May 2008, and the two welcomed twin boys nine months later. But wedded bliss didnt last. Mueller had Sheen arrested after a heated Christmas Day argument in 2009, claiming he threatened her with a knife. He filed for divorce less than a year later. Now, Mueller has a restraining order against the actor and is fighting for custody. (Jason Merritt / Getty Images)
The CBS mega-hit “Two and a Half Men” pairs Sheen’s hedonistic party boy character Charlie opposite his controlling brother Alan, who was forced to move in to Charlie’s Malibu pad after his divorce. Rounding out the fun is Alan’s underachieving son Jake, who’s stuck with two underwhelming role models. Sheen’s multiple trips to rehab and public rants about the show’s creator Chuck Lorre eventually led to the show’s suspension and later his firing. (Greg Gayne / Associated Press)
