Best & Worst: SAG Awards 2010

Tina Fey -- never one to miss an opportunity to poke a bear -- referenced Conangate in her acceptance speech for best actress in a comedy for “30 Rock” by telling NBC that “we are very happy with everything and happy to be there.”

Helen Mirren presents the award for supporting male actor in a motion picture. She’s 65 years old, but she doesn’t look a day over 50. We don’t care if it’s good genes or good docs. We just hope we look that good one day.

The “Precious” co-star, right, appears to be slimming down this award season. She was almost unrecognizable introducing the clip from her film. Here’s hoping her talent doesn’t diminish with her waist line.

First Jon Hamm shows up hirsute at the Golden Globes last week. And today, at the SAGs, his beard is even bushier (pictured, left). We’re talking Zach Galifianakis bushy. Then, John Slattery turns up to make the Taittinger toast with a silver beard that cuts down considerably on his silver fox image. Tell us: Do these guys need a razor sponsor or what?

Felicity Huffman probably won’t be asked back to present an award. The “Desperate Housewives” star didn’t wear her glasses on stage, so she couldn’t read the teleprompter to explain how the leading actresses were strong women. She needed a man ( Alec Baldwin) to assist her. This, after her flubbed presentation at the Golden Globes a week ago. Awkward.

You know you’re in the heart of award season when the televised award shows start to make pointed references to one another. In this case, co-presenters Jenna Fischer and Benjamin Bratt shared a drink on stage, in reference to Ricky Gervais’ onstage drinking at the Golden Globes a week ago. Even some of the acceptance speeches are starting to sound the same. Didn’t Jeff Bridges take some time to thank his stand-in a week ago? We thought so.

Jeff Bridges won! Again. Sandra Bullock won! Again. Christoph Waltz, Mo’Nique, Michael C. Hall, Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. They all won again. Whether it’s a repeat of last week’s Golden Globe winners or returning champs from last year’s SAG Awards, the parade of faces we see up on the podium is becoming depressingly familiar this award season. Here’s hoping the Academy throws us a few curveballs or movies’ biggest night will start to lose some of that shine.

TV comedy legend Betty White was so overcome by the emotions of accepting her life achievement award that she left it on stage when Sandra Bullock walked her away from the podium. Her speech was witty and fun, at 88 she’s still got it going on. And that high-cut dress ain’t bad either.

In a repeat to her Golden Globes win for “ Grey Gardens,” Drew used her stage time to give the second semi-hysterical, melodramatic acceptance speech in a week. “I feel sick and nervous,” she said. “And when you feel that way it’s a good thing -- in a professional sense.” But what’s it mean when you feel that way in the audience?

George Clooney may be exhausted from his Haiti benefit telethon last night, but he was together enough to pull off a zinger of an announcement when he stated that he and Betty White had once, ahem, shared more than a scene together on “The Golden Girls.” He was kidding, we think? We hope?
