Philadelphia Eagles tailback Darren Sproles, who sold his home in Santaluz last month, has purchased a tennis court estate at Heritage Ranch Estates in Poway for $2.8 million.
The residence, built by Greg Agee Homes in 2005, includes a Mediterranean-style main house, a guesthouse, a lagoon-style pool and spa, an outdoor fireplace and a tennis court on 4.44 acres.
Entered through a center courtyard, the single-story floor plan boasts large formal rooms with crown molding, vaulted ceilings and window treatments. There is a center-island kitchen, nine bedrooms, seven bathrooms and four stone fireplaces in more than 8,900 square feet.
Among amenities is a game room with a wet bar and an office with cherry wood paneling and coffered ceilings. A theater room features stadium-style seating.
Outdoors, a covered patio overlooks the pool and spa, set off by boulders and tall palms. The attached guest home adds an additional living room, fireplace and bedroom en-suite.
The property originally came on the market last year at $4.395 million and was more recently priced at $3.595 million. It previously sold for $3.9 million in 2007.
Marie Jo Atkins of Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty was the listing agent. Daniel Beer of Windermere Homes & Estates represented Sproles in the sale, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
Sproles, who began his career with the San Diego Chargers, closed out 2014 by selling a pair of properties. The tailback parted ways with a townhouse in Metairie, La., in November for $564,000. The following month, his home in Santaluz went for $2.625 million.
Sproles, 31, had 1,237 total yards and eight touchdowns for the Eagles in 2014. While with New Orleans in 2011, he set an NFL record for all-purpose yards in a season, with 2,696.
