AT&T;, T-Mobile at it again; Texas carrier cuts price of 2 GB data plan

Old rivals AT&T; and T-Mobile are fighting again to the benefit of their customers.
Dallas-based AT&T; over the weekend announced that it will offer customers its 2-gigabyte Mobile Share Value data plan for $15 less than it previously did. At that price, a customer with a single smartphone line can get unlimited talk and text along with the 2 GB of data for $65 per month.
We’re continuing the trend of offering more value to our new and existing customers,” said David Christopher, AT&T; Mobility chief marketing officer, in a statement.

The move seems to have come as a response to T-Mobile, which also announced new benefits for customers late Friday.
T-Mobile said it will offer customers on its Simple Choice plan twice as much high-speed Internet data as before. That means they will get 1 GB of 4G LTE for $50, instead of just 500 MB.
After AT&T; announced its price cut, T-Mobile Chief Executive John Legere, who is known for taking jabs at his rivals, took to Twitter to mock his competitor.

The recent changes by each of the carriers are the latest shots fired in a spat that’s heated up this year. Since January, AT&T; and T-Mobile have actively tried to poach each other’s customers, and it doesn’t look as if the tiff will end any time soon.
