Re “View from a squad car,” Opinion, Feb. 17
Officer Jack Dunphy is right on some points but misses the truth about the consent decree and video cameras. If the consent decree monitor finds the Los Angeles Police Department in compliance, it loses a multimillion-dollar contract to monitor our progress. Even this street cop can figure that one out: Demand video cameras, or financial disclosure, or officers flying with little angel wings for that matter -- anything to avoid compliance, because then the monitor loses millions. Is the L.A. City Council blind? The fox is truly guarding the henhouse on this consent decree.
