Klaus wins new presidential term

Czech President Vaclav Klaus won a second five-year term when lawmakers chose him over a University of Michigan economics professor.
Klaus, a dominant figure in Czech politics for nearly two decades, won the support of 141 legislators, one more than he needed to win.
Jan Svejnar, the professor, drew 111 votes.
Under the Czech Constitution, the president has little executive power.
Klaus, a 66-year-old conservative, succeeded playwright Vaclav Havel, who led the 1989 Velvet Revolution that toppled communist rule.
