WAS (NOT WAS) IS, AGAIN

“Boo!” -- Was (Not Was) is back, with an album by that name due in April, and with its sense of humor and penchant for bent, biting funk intact. “To me, it feels like it could have been made a year after our last album [1990],” Don Was says of the collaboration with his musical “brother” David. “We have no explanation, but time flies.” Don (born Don Fagenson, far right) racked up impressive production credits during the band’s down time, and David (born David Weiss, second from left) has been a writer, music supervisor and composer. The collective’s annual Valentine’s Day show will feature cameos by Kris Kristofferson and Brian Wilson (both of whom Don has produced). Boo, indeed. Jill Sobule opens. 8 tonight, Orpheum Theatre. $33-$48. www.laorpheum.com
