Pau? Wow!

The Lakers got Pau Gasol in return for Kwame Brown? What next, are the Lakers going to trade Luke Walton for Tim Duncan?

Mitch Kupchak doesn’t deserve the executive-of-the-year award for this, he deserves to have the trophy named after him.

Dear Mitch Kupchak,

Just heard the news about the trade for Gasol.

All is forgiven. You the man.

The Lakers make one of the best and timeliest deals in the franchise’s storied history and Mark Heisler’s column sees the downside. If he’d been covering world affairs after World War II, Heisler would have written, “There go the free German lessons.”

Congratulations to Mitch Kupchak for stealing Pau Gasol. The Lakers look great now, and just think how good they will be after they bring in a couple of more good players in exchange for Kobe Bryant.

I mean, Kobe does still want to be traded, right?

The acquisition of Pau Gasol was a godsend. And while Mitch Kupchak was the man making the deal, one has to wonder if former Grizzlies GM and Lakers legend Jerry West had a hand in it. West undoubtedly knew that Gasol was wasting away in Memphis and his rebirth with the Lakers as they return to the upper echelon will be a sight to behold.

Thank you again Mitch -- but with an assist to Mr. Clutch.

The irrational exuberance of the Lakers following the acquisition of Pau Gasol is stunning. The truth is Gasol has won exactly as many playoff games as me -- none.

So the Lakers get Gasol and the Clippers get the flu. Was the team doctor too busy with injuries to remember the flu shots? However, with Dunleavy under the weather, the Clippers actually won.
