5 U.S. soldiers killed in 2 Iraq blasts

BAGHDAD — Five American soldiers died in two roadside bomb attacks Friday, the U.S. military said.
Four of the soldiers died while on patrol when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb northwest of Baghdad, officials said.
The fifth was killed when a bomb exploded next to his vehicle in the northern province of Tamim, military officials said. Three soldiers were wounded, officials said.
At least 3,957 U.S. troops have been killed in Iraq since the war began in March 2003, according to icasualties.org.
