Authorities on Wednesday identified a West Covina woman who was struck and killed by a city bus downtown.
Vilma Hasbun, 56, died about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday after she was struck by a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus, said Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Hasbun, who was crossing the street in the 400 block of Los Angeles Street, was pinned under a front wheel, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman d’Lisa Davies.
Officials freed the woman using tools and air bags, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, Davies said.
The coroner’s office will be conducting an autopsy.
