Close to nature, but not that close

These felt rocks, at once reminiscent of gemstones and Flintstones, can give even the most minimalist lofts and modernist boxes a rough-and-tumble piece of nature -- all without straining the back or scratching the hardwood floor. Made by a women’s craft collective in the Gauteng province of South Africa, the rocks are constructed from hand-dyed wool that is hand-felted to create the appearance of stone. Prices range from $12 for pebbles to $880 for boulders that can be used as ottomans. Available at Bazar, 1108 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Suite C, Venice; (310) 314-2101.
