Board rejects two campaign efforts

County supervisors on Tuesday rejected the idea of creating a fair campaign practices commission and a second proposal to update existing campaign rules.
Both proposals would have gone on the June countywide ballot. Supervisors John Moorlach and Bill Campbell supported the measures, but Patricia Bates, Chris Norby and Janet Nguyen did not.
Activist Shirley Grindle, author of the county’s first campaign law decades ago, lobbied for the proposals. “I’ll just wait until this current board is termed out. I have time on my side,” she said.
Grindle did not rule out a petition drive to get the measures on the ballot.
