L.A. drama critics pick nominees

An eclectic group of productions lead the 39th annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards’ nominations for excellence in Los Angeles and Orange County theater in 2007, announced today.
Up for outstanding production honors are “The Quality of Life” at the Geffen Playhouse; “In Arabia, We’d All Be Kings,” presented by Elephant Theatre Company in association with VS. Theatre Company; “Trying,” presented by the Colony Theatre Company; Center Theatre Group’s “13”; and “Theatre@Boston Court’s “dark play or stories for boys.” The latter two, with five nods each, tie for most nominations with Circle X’s “Love Loves a Pornographer” and West Coast Ensemble’s “Zanna, Don’t!”
The LADCC ceremony will be held on March 17 at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $35. Tickets: ladramacriticscircle.com.
