A Wildomar preacher’s son died after a bar fight over the holiday weekend, authorities said.
Ryan Armstrong, 22, died at a hospital Friday after he was found with stab wounds outside the ET Lounge in the 27400 block of Jefferson Avenue about 11 that night, said Sgt. Dean Spivacke of the Temecula Police Department homicide unit.
A 23-year-old friend of Armstrong was also found with multiple stab wounds and taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, Spivacke said. Investigators believe the stabbing took place when Armstrong and a friend tried to make peace after an initial fight, Spivacke said.
The row spilled into the bar’s back parking lot, where both men were stabbed. Investigators are not sure what motivated the fight. Detectives believe the two groups of people did not know each other.
Armstrong is the son of the Rev. Ron Armstrong, a pastor who founded and preaches at the Cornerstone Community Church in Wildomar, Spivacke said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives with the homicide unit at (951) 696-3000.
