Re “Soaring like eagles,” Dec. 22
Thank you for the article about the Experimental Aircraft Assn.’s Young Eagles program at Torrance Municipal Airport. Aviation has so much to offer youngsters. The EAA does a wonderful job at many local general aviation airports of introducing children to the wonder of flying.
My father, who has had his pilot’s license for 40 years, introduced me to flying. As a pilot for more than 12 years, I have had the fun of introducing many of my friends and associates to flying small aircraft.
More important, aviation provides tens of thousands of skilled and high-paying jobs and brings billions of dollars to our local economy. We should do all we can to introduce children to flying -- and to support our general aviation airports.
