An 18-year-old man was shot to death while attending a memorial service for an acquaintance who was killed earlier in the week, police said Saturday.
The shooting on Friday night left two other people wounded at Houghton Park, said Long Beach Police Officer David Marander. It came five days after 19-year-old Anthony Martin of Compton was shot and killed.
The attack occurred at a picnic table when five unknown assailants approached those at the memorial and some fired shots. Police said they suspect it was gang-related.
Kreem Simon of Long Beach was shot in the lower torso and died after being taken by his friends to Lakewood Hospital, police said.
The two other victims--ages 19 and 24--did not have life-threatening injuries.
