Booker Named U.S. Player of the Year

Lorenzo Booker, the record-setting tailback from Ventura St. Bonaventure High, has been selected Gatorade national high school football player of the year.
Booker, who holds state career records for yards rushing (8,502), touchdowns (137), touchdowns rushing (131) and points (882), was honored Tuesday in a ceremony attended by Gov. Gray Davis at St. Bonaventure.
