Ex-Officer Gets 2 Years for Helping Drug Dealers

A former police officer was given a two-year prison sentence for helping drug dealers and running a stolen plumbing parts scheme.
Anthony Rodriguez was sentenced this week as part of a plea bargain with prosecutors. The 11-year police veteran, who resigned last year, pleaded guilty in September to theft, drug and illegal firearms charges.
Rodriguez apologized to his former employer and the community in court for “betraying your trust in me.”
“You are a person who should be ashamed of himself,” said Judge Irma Gonzalez. “I hope that you come back here someday, because I’ll take great pleasure in sentencing you.”
