The Southland’s top 25 girls’ basketball teams:
1. Narbonne (4-1, CS-Marine)
Fell to Poughkeepsie (N.Y.) Our Lady of Lourdes, 58-53. Eyeing matchup this week with Highland Ranch, Colo., in Nike Tournament of Champions.
2. Lynwood (5-0, SS-San Gabriel)
Plays in Phoenix at the TOC.
3. Artesia (3-1, SS-Suburban)
Instead of playing at the TOC, the Pioneers are hosting some of the top local teams in the Artesia tournament.
4. San Clemente (8-1, SS-South Coast)
Won their tournament for first time last week with 67-48 victory over Huntington Beach.
5. Troy (5-0, SS-Freeway)
Idle last week, will play in Santa Barbara tournament this week.
6. Brea Olinda (2-2, SS-Orange)
Will try to break two-game losing streak at TOC.
7. Long Beach Poly (5-0, SS-Moore)
Could face Bishop Amat in Artesia semifinals.
8. Ventura (9-0, SS-Channel)
Jenni Dooley averaged 26 points last week in victories over Thousand Oaks and Valencia.
9. Hart (9-1, SS-Foothill)
Goes after the Simi Valley tournament title.
10. Bishop Amat (8-0, SS-Del Rey)
Have yet to play a game closer than 21 points.
11. Bishop Montgomery (7-2, SS-Del Rey)
Coming off a victory over Westchester, 57-48.
12. Redondo Union (2-2, SS-South Bay Athletic)
Last action was at Brea tournament, and this week could face Brea in Phoenix in rematch of last season’s Division II-AA title game.
13. Esperanza (5-1, SS-Sunset)
Faces Irvine today, and then it’s on to Phoenix.
14. Woodbridge (5-0, SS-Sea View)
Warriors could face Artesia tournament host in a semifinal on Friday.
15. Mater Dei (6-0, SS-Serra)
In first major test , blew away Edison, 50-34.
16. Westchester (5-2, CS-Western)
The Comets’ two losses have been to Long Beach Poly and Bishop Montgomery.
17. El Dorado (9-0, SS-Empire)
Behind the two Melissas, Jacob and Cook, the Golden Hawks won their tournament with victory over Rosary, 48-42.
18. Buena (4-2, SS-Channel)
Courtney LaVere is averaging 34 points in last three games.
19. Edison (4-2, SS-Sunset)
Chargers are 2-2 against teams ranked in the Top 25.
20. Norco (6-2, SS-Mountain View)
Hung with Norco for a quarter before fading in 73-54 setback.
21. Pasadena Muir (8-0, SS-Pacific)
Tye’sha Fluker scored region-high 50 in 101-30 victory over Pomona.
22. Rosary (5-2, SS-Serra)
Two-time defending tournament champion finished second to host El Dorado, 48-42, in Gary Raya Coed Classic.
23. Eisenhower (6-0, SS-Citrus Belt)
Still has not faced a top 25 team, and won’t this week at its own tournament.
24. Long Beach Wilson (4-1, SS-Moore)
Making rankings debut with only one loss, 51-46, to Troy.
25. Corona Centennial (5-0, SS-Mtn. View)
The Huskies won the San Diego Rancho Bernardo tournament.
