Matt Sauk, a former quarterback at Irvine Woodbridge High and Orange Coast College, was named Arena Football2 rookie of the year Thursday.
Sauk, who also played for Utah State in 1996-97, led the Tennessee Valley Gators of Huntsville, Ala., to a 15-3 record last season, throwing for 4,185 yards and 86 touchdowns.
Arena Football2 was developed by the Arena Football League as a way to bring the sport to medium-sized markets.
