From 6 tonight to 6 a.m. Friday, the Automobile Club of Southern California is providing free “Tipsy Tow” rides home for drinking drivers and their vehicles.
“Over the past five years, a statewide average of 153 people have been killed or injured in alcohol-related accidents during the New Year’s holiday,” said Paul Berkery, the Laguna Hills district manager for the Auto Club. Bartenders, restaurant managers, party hosts or motorists can call (800) 400-4AAA to receive a free tow home, up to seven miles. Drivers will be charged normal rates for tows more than seven miles.
