Avila, Cruz to Fight in Main Event

Super-welterweights Miguel Avila of Chino and Jose Luis Cruz of San Diego will meet in tonight’s eight-round main event at the Irvine Marriott.
Cruz (8-3) lost a 10-round split decision to Jamie Osegueda last spring at the Marriott for the state super-welterweight title. Avila is 7-2.
One of the more intriguing undercard fights will feature Culver City’s Eddie Gutierrez (2-0), a highly touted middleweight prospect, against Anthony Bier of San Jose in a four-rounder.
A women’s middleweight bout will match Marsha Valley of Los Angeles against Summer De Leon of Boise, Idaho.
Tickets for the 7:30 show are $25 and $35. The bout can also be seen on the Internet at www.IPPV.com or fightchannel.com for $9.95.
