Judge Dismisses Suit Against City Council

SIERRA MADRE — A judge has dismissed a lawsuit that alleged the City Council violated the state’s open meetings law when it disbanded a controversial commission in October 1997.
Attorney Steven A. Broiles alleged that the council decided behind closed doors to eliminate the Tree Preservation Commission prior to its Oct. 28 public meeting.
In his ruling, Judge Robert O’Brien wrote that “there was insufficient evidence presented showing the alleged violations.”
Broiles said Monday that he is disappointed at the ruling and will appeal.
