Congress Votes $2 Million to Buy Forest Land

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST — A $2-million congressional appropriation for Angeles National Forest will be used to buy remaining tracts of private land within it boundaries.
The appropriation comes from $700 million set aside by Congress to add environmentally sensitive tracts to national parklands and wildlife areas, said Rep. David Dreier (R-San Dimas).
Dreier said the purchase of private lands is designed to ease management and upkeep of Angeles National Forest, which is the most visited national forest in the United States.
Dozens of small parcels of private land still exist in the park, which stretches along the San Gabriel Mountains.
