Long Beach Symphony Music Director JoAnn Falletta reveals herself as a capable guitarist and conscientious chamber musician in this largely undemanding salon music, though many guitar historians would contest parts of her liner notes. Her completion of the final movement of Schubert’s quartet arrangement, including all the variations from the original Matiegka trio, is an interesting and rewarding addition. The performances are amiably blunt in sentiment and nuance, and the fuzzy recorded sound tends to reduce them all to accompanied flute solos.
