The South Coast Literacy Council has certified seven women, including Dana Point resident Susan Dixon, as tutors in English as a second language, making them eligible to teach adults. Other tutors certified were Linda Rainey and Patricia Tobin of Costa Mesa, Helen Eum and Melissa Atwell of Irvine, Laurie Lambert of Newport Beach and Gloria McKinney of Aliso Viejo.
The volunteer tutors can now teach ESL to adults in the council’s centers in Orange County. The council has been helping adults with their English skills, free of charge, for more than 25 years. Information: (949) 458-8664.
