SAN BERNARDINO — The fire that raged through a boarding home before dawn Thursday, killing four of 17 occupants, may have been caused by faulty wiring, San Bernardino Fire Department spokesman Tom Rubio said Friday.
Arson has been dismissed as the likely cause of the blaze, but the investigation is continuing, Rubio said.
Those killed were identified Friday by the San Bernardino County coroner as Leonard S. Tyler, 47; Edwin J. Pollard, 47; Robert Mulligan, 52; and Michael Green, 55, all of San Bernardino.
Three other men who jumped through windows remained hospitalized for burns, smoke inhalation, cuts and other injuries. Nine men and a woman escaped injury when they were awakened by smoke detectors.
