Singer for Hanukkah

The Jewish Community Center of Orange County will hold a concert next week featuring singer Svetlana Portnyanskaya to celebrate Hanukkah. The Russian-born performer, who has toured internationally, will sing in Hebrew, English, Russian and Yiddish at 8 p.m. Dec. 19 at 250 E. Baker St. in Costa Mesa.

Portnyanskaya, a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory of Music and a trained cantor, sang on radio, television and in concert halls in the former Soviet Union.
