Cox to Consolidate Its Staff at One Site

Cox Communications plans to consolidate its Orange County staff into a new 300,000-square-foot facility in Rancho Santa Margarita during the middle of next year.
Cox employs nearly 600 people in Orange County, with staff divided among its corporate headquarters and a marketing and accounting office in San Juan Capistrano; a training center in Laguna Nigel; and two additional facilities in Aliso Viejo. No layoffs or hires are expected because of the move, company officials said.
The company plans to purchase a building near the corner of Avenida Empresa and Avenida de las Bandaras, said company officials. The leases on the cable company’s existing facilities expire next year, staff said. Financial details of the property deal were not disclosed.
Cox said it has spent the last year looking for a new facility to accommodate its rapid growth, caused by its aggressive push to offer phone and Internet service to consumers and businesses in the southern portion of the county. Just two years ago, Cox had 350 employees locally.
