Spotlight: Mercury Air Group Is in Takeover Talks

Mercury Air Group Inc. said it’s been approached by a company it wouldn’t name about a possible takeover. Los Angeles-based Mercury, which sells aviation fuel and ground-support services to airlines and the military, said it’s in the early stages of talks and that a deal is far from certain. The company also named Chief Operating Officer Joseph Czyzyk president and CEO, replacing Seymour Kahn. Mercury’s announcement came after markets closed. Shares rose 50 cents to $7 on the American Stock Exchange.
