LONG BEACH — A jury on Friday found a convicted rapist guilty of sexually assaulting and killing his 12-year-old niece.
Eloy Loy, 47, faces a possible death sentence for the slaying of Monique Arroyo, whose naked body was found in a Wilmington field in May 1996.
On the day Monique disappeared, police took Loy into custody on a parole violation. Her body was found three days later. Detectives used DNA evidence to link the girl’s death to Loy, who also used the name David Garber.
The penalty phase of the trial is scheduled to begin Monday.
