Residents can soon turn to a Board of Appeals when they disagree with a building inspector’s rulings or want to deviate from the Uniform Construction Code in a building project.
City Council members unanimously voted last week to create the board since a resident has stepped forward with an appeal.
The council members will appoint three residents who are licensed contractors, architects, builders or have some other professional qualifications. Under the plan, the board will meet formally only once a year but will be on call when appeals come in.
City officials will draft an ordinance establishing the board for council members to approve at their Dec. 14 meeting.
