Adam Peterson of USC defeated Frederick Bergh of Fresno State, 6-1, 6-2, in the final of the Quadrax Future Champions Invitational on Sunday at Hyatt Grand Champions Resort in Indian Wells.
Mike Fedderly, a teaching professional, combined with touring professional Rikard Bergh to defeat Jason Weir-Smith and Ashley Fisher of Texas Christian, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4, in the doubles final.
It was the first time in the event’s 12-year history that a non-collegian entry had won a title.
With the titles, Peterson and Fedderly-Bergh earned wild-card entry in the Newsweek Champions Cup, an ATP Tour event that will be played at Hyatt Grand Champions in March.
